Rachel's a sarcastic, potty-mouthed guru in love with a hot, hot detective. They solve crimes together, and she's not effing psychic.

I make my living as a self-help writer, so I try (fail) to keep from cussing in public. My job's easy--I recycle the bullshit people fed me when I went blind at 11. Twenty years later, a transplant restored my sight, and in an everything-happen-for-a-f*cking-reason riddle for the ages, I started glimpsing murders through the eyes of killers. Turns out my donor was one--even better, I'm about to marry his brother, the cop.

Look Inside Ch. 1

Girl Blue

I was waiting, crouched behind his car in the parking lot. It was dark, and there were street lights but no cameras. I’d checked ahead of time. I’d planned this. I was going to kill him.

He came out of the bar, three sheets to the wind, which would make it so much easier. He listed to one side but tried real hard to stand up straight as he walked around the parking lot, looking left and right. Then he took his key bob out and tapped it. The car I was crouching beside unlocked its doors and flashed its headlights. He saw it and smiled like he’d just won the lottery.

Only he hadn’t won anything. His winning days were over.

He staggered to the car, pulled open the driver’s door. I moved quickly around the back, right up behind him, and jabbed him with a needle.

He whirled on me, “What the hell?” One hand went to his ass where I’d stuck him down low. I grabbed his shirt front, pulled him toward me as I opened the back door. His eyes were already losing focus when I shoved him into the back. Then I climbed in after him, right up onto his back. He was out cold in seconds, not moving. I took the garrote from my pocket. It was perfectly designed, rough, braided picture-frame wire around with a wooden handle on either end. Put it around his neck, and pulled it tight.
