A prophecy pressed into ancient stone tablets predicts the end of vampire kind.

This can only be avoided, the cuneiform symbols say, by the intervention of “the two who are opposite and yet the same.”

Part-human, part-vampire twins James, who can heal and Brigit, who can destroy, believe they are those two.

James’ first step in saving his friends, his family, his people, is to get his hands on the rest of that tablet and the woman who can translate it—Professor Lucy Lanfair. To save his species, he’ll abandon the very values and principals he’s lived by. He’ll pluck an innocent woman from her life and drop her into the middle of his kindred’s fight for survival. And he will extract her aid whether she wants to give it or not.

Archaeologist and translator Lucy Lanfair has no idea that she holds the key to preventing the annihilation of an entire species. But she soon realizes she holds far more than just that—for the vampire’s soul is also in her hands. To love him is to rise to the call of destiny, despite the danger. To save her love, she must save his entire race.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Maggie never disappoints and I am thrilled that she is revisiting her Wings in the night series! This was a journey for both reluctant Vampire JW and Professor Lucy Lanfair and it was both fascinating and heartbreaking. You couldn't help but root for them. I loved their relationship and watching their individual journey as well. Worth it!~ Reviewer

Look Inside Ch. 1

It is an old story But one that can still be told About a man who loved And lost.... —The Epic of Gilgamesh
Shannon took notes, swearing at the inefficiency of a penlight for writing in the middle of a pitch-dark theater. She shoved the meaty arm to her left out of the way and whispered loudly, “Hey, do you mind? I’m trying to work here.”
Anger was good. Anger would keep her mind away from the images burned into it. Tawny, with hair and eyes that matched her name and a smile that lit up a room. Her dreams of becoming a star. Her fearlessness. Her stubbornness. Shannon wanted to remember her vivacious BFF. Not the pale, naked body on rumpled sheets with its vacant-eyed stare. Not the twin gossamer strands of scarlet on her paper-white neck.
Shannon wrote, vaguely aware of the spreading applause, then gradual quieting. The enigmatic magician at center stage asked for a volunteer. Excited offers from female spectators distracted her only for a moment before she continued writing.
He has women drooling. It would be easy for him to lure one away. Still no clue where he was last Wednesday night when Tawny–
Her pen stopped on the pad and a cloud of frigid air seemed to envelop her. She glanced up toward the aisle three seats away.
He stood there, a tall, shadowy form draped in black satin. His dark eyes held the wisdom of the gods and the pain of a thousand hells, and they were focused on her.
“You, Miss."
